Taiwan's DelSolar To Build 900MW Manufacturing Plant

DelSolar, a subsidiary of Taiwan's Delta Electronics (2308.TW), announced that its board has approved plans to build a new solar cell and manufacturing plant with a capacity of 900 megawatts (MW).

In December 2009, the HsinChu Science Park Administration approved DelSolar’s proposed rental of 1.8 hectares of land in Jhunan for the construction of a new plant.

The estimated total cost of the construction of the new plant and operation facilities and purchase of new equipments is NTD 9,260,000,000 (US$ 291.6 million).

A timeline for construction was not given.

The company also approved its full-year financial statement, showing revenue NTD 4,309,477,000 and net loss of NTD 135,604,000, or NTD -0.92 per share.
