Yesterday we reported that the US Environmental Protection Agency is adding to a "Chemicals of Concern" list in an effort to begin updating the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).

A federal policy designed to protect trade secrets in the chemical industry has been over-used in recent years, such that regulators, researchers and consumers are unaware of the chemicals to which they may be exposed in everyday products--let alone their possible health effects.
About 700 chemicals are introduced each year, with companies requesting some level of secrecy on 95% of these.
