New Network Aims to Make Green Sexy

SustainableBusiness.com News

'Eco-tainment.' That's what the executives behind the Planet Green network, which launches across the U.S. tomorrow, say they will offer viewers, according to an Associated Press story.

The programming recipe calls for a heavy helping of environmentally conscious celebrities and no lecturing, according to network president Eileen O'Neil.

"The network is not only not finger-wagging, it's sexy, it's interesting, it's irreverent," O'Neill said.

The network will replace Discovery Home, making it available in approximately 50 million homes. Original programming will include a program called 'Battleground Earth,' featuring celebrity rocker Tommy Lee and rapper Ludacris. The two will compete to see who is the 'greenest.'

The show 'Alter Eco' will demonstrate to celebrities and others how to live a "hip green lifestyle."

And 'Supper Club with Tom Bergeron' will feature different chefs cooking environmentally friendly meals, and 'Greensburg' will examine the green rebuilding efforts taking place in Greensburg, Kansas, which was destroyed by a massive tornado last year.

Other shows include: "Hollywood Green with Maria Menounos," "Mean Green Machines" and "Renovation Nation."

Tune in to watch green go mainstream, 24 hours a day.
