Rona Fried, Ph.D. is founder and CEO of, a global news and networking website dedicated to green business. Online since 1996, the website was one of the first in the world to focus on green business, green jobs and green investing.

Rona is known for her wide-ranging, deep knowledge of sustainable business and environmental issues in general. She is widely quoted as an expert in green business and green investing, and speaks and writes on those topics.

Known as a thought leader in the field, provides daily green business and daily green investor news that cuts across all relevant sectors including climate change, renewable energy, energy efficiency, green building, smart grid, water, the organic industry, and all subjects that impact sustainability and green economy. runs Green Dream Jobs, a leading green jobs service, and Business Connections, an online networking forum for green businesses, which also helps those businesses find the financing they need to grow.

For eight years, produced one of the few green investment newsletters, Progressive Investor, which merged with The Green Investor in late 2010. During that time, Rona produced the annual SB20 - The World's Top Sustainable Stocks.

Dr. Fried has been writing the "Investing in Clean Energy" column for Solar Today Magazine since 2002, along with hundreds of articles for and numerous other websites and magazines. is her third green business venture. In 1990, she opened one of the first green retailers in the US, Earthwares (Carrboro, NC) and then EcoRep, which sold green non-grocery products to the health food industry. Previous to her shift into green business, she ran an independent consulting practice on organizational effectiveness for ten years.

She received her Ph.D. in Social/Organizational Psychology from SUNY/Buffalo in 1982, and her B.A. in Psychology from University of Wisconsin/Madison in 1976 (a long time ago!).

Rona lives in Huntington, NY and is known by her friends for weeding invasive plants at her local parks (someone has to do it!). She is a committed and passionate environmentalist, loving wildlife and wild places.
