Rona Fried, Ph.D.

Rona Fried is known for her wide-ranging, deep knowledge of sustainable business and environmental issues in general. She is president and founder of SustainableBusiness.com, and editor of Progressive Investor. She speaks and writes on topics related to sustainable business, green jobs and green investing.

SustainableBusiness.com (SB.com) has been online since 1996, providing global news and networking services to help green business grow. By covering all green business sectors worldwide, the site offers visitors a unique lens to view the field as a whole: clean energy, green building, green investing, organic products, climate change and all subjects that impact sustainability.

In addition to providing daily green business and investor news, SustainableBusiness.com runs Green Dream Jobs, the leading green jobs service, and Business Connections, an online networking forum for green businesses. The company publishes Progressive Investor, one of the few hands-on green investing newsletters.

Dr. Fried writes an "Investing in Clean Energy" column for Solar Today Magazine, the "Money Matters" column for E Magazine, along with articles for numerous other magazines. She is widely quoted as an expert in green business and green investing.

She serves on numerous Advisory Boards: the WilderHill Clean Energy Index (ECO), which manages the bellweather clean energy ETF (PBW), the WilderHill New Energy Global Innovation Index (NEX), which tracks the clean energy sector worldwide (NEX), PowerShares WilderHill Progressive Energy (PUW), and PowerShares Global Progressive Transportation Portfolio (PTRP). She also serves on the boards of Greensource Partners, a green venture capital firm, Alternative Construction Technologies, a green building products manufacturer, and Berkshire Publishing Group, focused on sustainable business educational books.

Previous to her shift into green business, Dr. Fried maintained an organizational effectiveness consulting practice for ten years. She received her Ph.D. in Social/Organizational Psychology from SUNY/Buffalo in 1982, and her B.A. in Psychology from University of Wisconsin/Madison in 1976.

Rona lives in Huntington, NY and known by her friends for weeding the local parks of invasive plants (someone has to do it!).
