Program Associate – Green Leasing And Commercial Finance

The Institute for Market Transformation (IMT), founded in 1996, is a Washington, DC-based nonprofit organization promoting energy efficiency, green building, and environmental protection in the United States and abroad. The prevailing focus of IMT's work is energy efficiency in buildings.

Our activities include technical and market research, policy and program development, and promotion of best practices and knowledge exchange. All our work involves many collaborators and targets a broad range of stakeholders in both the public and private sectors.

In particular, IMT aims to strengthen market recognition of the link between buildings' energy efficiency and their financial value. IMT's efforts lead to important new policy outcomes, widespread changes in practice, and ultimately, lasting market shifts toward greater energy efficiency, with substantial benefits for the economy and the environment.

Position Overview:

IMT is seeking a Program Associate to work on various policy and research projects for the Green Leasing and Commercial Finance Programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and analysis in support of IMT's Green Leasing and Commercial Finance Programs
  • Develop partnerships with companies, trade associations, and government agencies
  • Create educational materials (articles, presentations, case studies) on green leasing and other energy efficiency initiatives
  • Work with federal government agencies on energy requirements in lease language
  • Perform outreach to state and local governments on energy efficiency issues
  • Work with other programs as assigned 

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in real estate, finance, business, or related field
  • 1-5 years of post-college work experience, ideally in commercial real estate or a related field
  • Strong writing and oral communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work on a range of projects with diverse teams of policymakers, architects, engineers, economists, attorneys, and industry professionals
  • Ability to learn an industry quickly
  • Interest and/or experience in green buildings, commercial real estate, environmental policy, and sustainability consulting 

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience.
