The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is dedicated to research and education to advance understanding of the ocean and its interaction with the Earth system, and to communicating this understanding for the benefit of society.
Position Overview:
The Department of Applied Ocean Physics and Engineering at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution invites applications for one tenure-track scientist position to complement and expand existing programs in coastal & ocean fluid dynamics, ocean acoustics, and underwater robotics, with core strengths in nearshore, estuarine, and coastal fluid dynamics; sediment transport; bio-physical interactions; mixing; acoustical propagation and scattering; underwater signal processing and communication; vehicles; sensors; and imaging.
Responsibilities:
Applicants are invited who will strengthen and expand research in these and related areas.
Candidates are expected to develop independent, externally funded, and nationally and internationally recognized research programs.
Scientific staff members have the option of advising graduate students and teaching courses through the MIT/WHOI Joint Program in Oceanography and Oceanographic Engineering.
Opportunities for interdisciplinary research exist through collaboration with the other science departments and the research institutes at WHOI.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have:
- A doctoral degree.
- Postdoctoral experience.
- A publication record.
