Bay Area Green Tours is an emerging environmental non-profit located in the environmental epicenter of the nation!
We have a unique educational product that promotes pioneering organizations and sustainable businesses.
Our tours connect the public to pioneering green leaders in Northern California. In addition to public tours, we organize tours for private groups and educational institutions.
Position Overview:
Bay Area Green Tours depends on interns and volunteers to forward our efforts to shine a spotlight on our area's sustainability pioneers. We currently have a fun and committed team, and we really enjoy and appreciate each other! We invite passionate and dedicated individuals to help us further our mission of inspiring and educating people about sustainability.
Learn about Bay Area green businesses, non-profits and farms while building up your resume, collaborating with a fabulous team, making valuable contacts, and getting hands on experience at a cutting edge organization! Our internships provide on-the-job experience and networking opportunities, as interns connect with some of the most inspiring sustainable businesses and entrepreneurs in the Bay Area!
Hours and location are flexible, though we require a minimum commitment of 5 hours a week, and interns must be comfortable structuring their own time.
Offering Internship Opportunities in the areas of:
- Research
- Tour development
- Computer support
- Administrative support
- Fundraising & sponsorships
- Graphic design
- Marketing/outreach/pr
- Multi-media documentation
We currently need help with these types of tours:
- Architectural
- Re-thinking waste
- Energy and transportation
- Agricultural (farms and urban gardens)
- SF Waterfront
- Downtown Berkeley
- UC Berkeley and Berkeley High School tours covering several of these topics
- Nutrition and Green Collar jobs
Compensation:
While these are unpaid positions, your time results in myriad substantial professional benefits:
- Training and experience working with a strong, spirited and dedicated team pooling their efforts to support a unique local environmental non-profit organization
- Experience researching and connecting with innovative and pioneering leaders in the expanding field of sustainability
- Improved research and communication skills and experience
- Valuable job networking (One of our interns recently got a job because of a person she contacted while organizing a BAGT tour)
- Opportunity to work in the David Brower Center -- one of the Bay Area's most advanced green buildings which is home to a vibrant community made up of a variety of organizations and individuals at the forefront of environmental and social action
- Community service credit for school, if desired
- Letter of recommendation/professional reference, based on performance
