Position Overview:
We are looking for a Director of Sales, this a full time position reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. AEE Solar has facilities in San Luis Obispo, Redway and Sacramento. This position will be based in San Luis Obispo. This is a high-energy, fast-paced position.
Relationship:
The Director of Sales reports to the Chief Operating Officer and has responsibility for planning and implementing sales strategies, obtained from the annual budget plan and targeted toward existing and new markets, by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. The Director of Sales will play a key role in the company's management process by following and achieving company metrics.
Primary emphasis is on giving the customers what they want when they expect it while improving productivity. Communicate clearly and concisely to the COO and management team. Utilize own experience and expertise, as well as that of subordinates, to effectively contribute to the Company's strategic decision-making process to ensure realization of budgetary revenue and profit goals. Constantly seek improvement in our business performance by supporting innovative approaches where appropriate. Challenge existing paradigms in an effort to create positive change.
Conceptualizes department budgeting, planning, coordinating, and interfacing with all departments.
Directs Senior Lead Members, and other Managers assigned by the COO.
Recruits and hires new support staff, and oversees the disciplining and dismissal of existing staff within budgetary and Human Resources Department guidelines.
Develops and implements Sales Department business and profit plans.
Creates CPO's (Clear Performance Objectives) for direct reports while evaluating and leading them to achieve expressed objectives.
Remains knowledgeable of the latest trends in the Solar Industry, and anticipates future industry trends that impact our business.
Develops overall sales team evaluation and implementation programs. Coordinates the development and execution of sales objectives, strategies, and promotional programs and plays integral role in the conception/quantification/specification of new products and options.
Develops and implements strategic sales plans and forecasts to achieve budgeted revenues and profits.
Develops and manages sales operating budgets with accountability for all sales expenses.
Achieves satisfactory profit/loss ratio and market share in relation to preset standards and industry and economic trends.
Ensures effective control of marketing and sales results, and takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of sales and marketing objectives falls within designated budgets.
Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts sales strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
Monitors competitor products, sales and marketing activities.
Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.
Guides preparation of sales activity reports and presents to executive management.
Presents weekly, monthly and year-to-date sales reports to executive management.
Establishes and maintains a consistent corporate image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events.
Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly.
Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales programs.
Directs market channel development activity and coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals.
Represents Company at trade association meetings to promote product.
Meets with key clients and assists sales representatives with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.
Coordinates liaison between sales department and other sales related units.
Analyzes and controls division expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements.
Assists other departments within organization in preparation of manuals and technical publications.
Prepares periodic sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
Reviews and analyzes sales performances against programs, quotes and plans to determine effectiveness.
Directs product research and development.
Manages, recruits, selects and develops staff to achieve Company goals and objectives
Qualifications:
Education:
An undergraduate degree, preferably in sales, marketing and/or business is required. An MBA is highly desirable. Proven ability and relative experience, however, will be the deciding factors.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years sales/business experience with at least 5 years in a project/product management role is required, preferably with renewable energy products. Must demonstrate effective and diplomatic verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, plus a thorough knowledge of sales strategies and practices. Must be a self-starter experienced in developing, motivating, and managing people in a matrix organization, and working effectively with schedules and reporting.
Requires strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize work effectively. The position requires approximately 55-65 percent travel. Finally, must be experienced in all aspects of project management and salesmanship.

Compensation: Compensation will be based on experience.
