Position Overview:

Pace is actively recruiting for senior and junior management positions in its Solid & Alternative Fuels Group ("SA&FG"). SA&FG is part of the Energy Markets, Assets and Regulatory Strategies Division ("EMARS").  All position openings require strong interaction within a matrix management organization. The positions require strong technical and communications skills for interaction with other business units including the Outlook Series Leader, and Operations Managers for Forecasting and Power Market Strategies, Utility and Risk Management, Engineering & Asset Management practice areas for fulfillment, sales and marketing purposes. 

The SA&FG is focused on the supply and transportation of solid fuels (coal and petcoke) and alternative fuels (biomass, refuse-derived fuel, landfill methane gas capture) and the environmental issues related to the combustion of such fuels.  More specifically SA&FG is focused on:

  • Client engagements related to coal market studies and strategic planning, assisting in transaction development efforts, coal and petcoke procurement, providing input to coal and petcoke quarterly market price forecasts.
  • Structuring and leading commercial negotiations for solid and alternative fuel supplies and transportation negotiations.
  • Leading market analysis related to due diligence and playing keys roles on the valuation of solid and renewable fuel energy assets.
  • Assembly of and support for assumptions development, modeling, and related analysis of all solid and renewable fuels market assessments.
  • Assist in developing and capturing consulting business opportunities with fuel commodity producers, shippers, railroads, utilities, industrials and other energy companies.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years relevant experience in the solid fuels and/or renewables industries and recognized industry expertise.
  • Strong interest in the energy business with experience in the aspects of the fuel supply value chains.
  • Strong quantitative skills preferably with experience in asset valuation and/or economic modeling.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with an ability to relate to the needs of both developers and financial institutions and work as part of fully functioning team across multiple locations.
  • Commercial experience related to most aspects of the solid and renewables businesses, including sales, production, marketing, transportation, management, regulatory and strategic planning.
  • A solid degree in a technical discipline, economics, or math is required and an advanced degree is desirable.
  • Ability to manage and participate in staff project teams as well as interfacing with senior level managers is critical.
  • Supervisory responsibility over junior staff responsible for project fulfillment, reports/presentations and internal database maintenance.
  • Foreign language skills, commercial and consulting experiences are pluses.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required.
