The Environmental Protection Agency's Climate Protection Partnerships Division has an immediate opportunity for a new position within the Energy Supply & Industry Branch in its Washington, DC headquarters. 

The EPA works in partnership with businesses, organizations, and state and local governments throughout the country to reduce greenhouse gases that contribute to global climate change by promoting greater use of clean energy and other cost-effective technologies and practices.

Position Overview:

EPA is seeking an individual with proven experience in the sustainable energy and/or environmental technologies field, to lead the development of an initiative to characterize the range of new and emerging clean energy technologies, explore a robust set of options for developing enabling policies to facilitate their more rapid and widespread market uptake, and implement options as appropriate.   

Specifically, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and evaluating innovative policies and programs that can advance alternatives to conventional fossil fuel energy and assist in meeting national greenhouse gas reduction goals and federal and state legislative initiatives. 

He/she will also be responsible for development of a strategy for increasing the awareness and acceptance of new and emerging renewable energy and clean energy technologies in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors, including such technologies as advanced photovoltaic systems, micro-cogeneration, geothermal heat pumps, small scale wind, fuel cells, solar hot water heating, district heating and cooling, and other cutting edge technologies and systems that reduce emissions of greenhouse gases over conventional technologies. 

The position, in close cooperation with existing voluntary partnerships, will help build the capacity of state and local planners, decision-makers, and industry to implement clean energy projects, through the enhanced development of onsite renewable energy systems, district energy, distributed generation, smart grid applications, and other innovative power generation solutions by increasing the awareness of  new and emerging clean energy technologies and the identifying practical approaches for financing these systems. 

Qualifications:

Interested candidates should be enthusiastic, organized self-starters with experience in voluntary programs, clean and renewable energy technologies, innovative financing mechanisms, and climate change and/or air quality issues. 

The successful candidate must possess strong writing and speaking capabilities, as well as the ability to convey complex information and concepts to a variety of audiences.  The candidate must also possess demonstrated analytical, interpersonal, and project management skills.
