Efforts to address environmental and economic well-being in the Pacific Northwest are some of the most innovative in the country.

Recent reports indicate, however, a growing "green divide," where the environmental and economic benefits of sustainability efforts are unevenly distributed along race and class lines, replicating un-sustainable systems of inequity and that ultimately lead to destabilization. Coupled with a rapidly diversifying population, addressing equity is essential to the success of sustainability efforts.
